Employees who are required to work on the day of the CUPE 59 Election must vote prior to their shift starting, during the employees’ lunch hour or authorized break, after the end of the employees’ shift or request and obtain an approved Leave of Absence.

 

Voting will take place at the following locations and times:

 

Lakewood Civic Centre – Meeting Room

From 6:15 am to 9:00 am

 

City Hall – Committee Room E

From 10:15 am to 1:00 pm

 

Vic Rempel Yards – Greenhouse Conference Room

Executive Compensation Committee Information

At the CUPE 59 Annual General Meeting, a motion was passed to establish an Ad-Hoc Committee to research funding options for CUPE 59 Executive Board positions. The Committee shall present recommendation(s) to the Executive Board by April 30, 2019.

 

Recommendations were presented to the CUPE 59 Executive and the next step is to present the findings to the general membership.  The Committee has set out a communication plan to do this, including two information meetings in June.  Please feel free to attend ONE of the following meetings – no need to register:

 

Thursday June 20, 2019 at 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm

Lakewood Civic Centre, Multipurpose Room (holds 60 people)

OR

Tuesday June 25, 2019 at 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Cosmo Civic Centre Theatre (holds 100 people)

 

FOLLOWING the meetings, information and membership feed-back will be distributed to the Membership.

The next step will be the development of appropriate motions to present at the October, CUPE 59 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

CUPE SK SPONSORSHIP FOR SFL KIDS CAMP ON AUG 10 – 16, 2019

CUPE Saskatchewan is offering two (2) sponsorships for CUPE member children to attend the upcoming Saskatchewan Federation of Labour’s Summer Camp on August 10 to 16, 2019, at Shekinah Retreat Centre Near Waldheim, SK.

 

The sponsorship is intended to assist with the financial cost burden associated with camp attendance. Sponsorships are available for members of CUPE Local Unions affiliated with CUPE Saskatchewan Division who are not otherwise eligible for other subsidies that may be available through their local.

 

SFL Summer Camp begins the afternoon of Saturday, August 10, 2019, and ends the following Friday, August 16, 2019.  The camp addresses challenges facing youth including social justice and equality issues. It combines learning with cooperative recreation activities and fun. Young people between the ages of 13-16 who are children of union members are eligible to attend.

 

To apply for a sponsorship, please submit an email or letter to the attention of the Secretary-Treasurer c/o Jodi Reavley at the CUPE Saskatchewan Division Office: j.reavley.cupe@sasktel.net

 

Upon application, please indicate the full name and CUPE Local Union number of the parent/guardian making application and the name(s) of youth camper(s) seeking registration financial assistance. Please also complete the camp registration form (available at: www.sfl.sk.ca/events/summer-camp).

 

Applications for sponsorship should be submitted by June 24, 2019.
