Leisure Passes and Medical Leave Pilot update

CUPE 59 and the City of Saskatoon have continued bargaining into December, 2019.  At our session on December 18, 2019, CUPE 59 requested an extension to the Leisure Pass subsidy while the parties continue to bargain.  The City has agreed to extend the Leisure Pass subsidy for a period of three (3) months from January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2020.  This program will now end on March 31, 2020 or upon reaching our next tentative agreement, whichever comes first.  Please see attached information.

Secretary-Treasurer Position

Stacy Sokalofsky has taken a new position outside of CUPE Local 59 as of December 31, 2019.  Stacy has been on the CUPE 59 Executive for more than 14 years and her knowledge and efforts have been greatly appreciated by the CUPE 59 Executive and membership.  Good luck to Stacy on her future endeavors!  The Executive Board presented an interim plan to the Trustees’ to have two existing board members co-manage the duties of the Secretary-Treasurer position until an election is held (June 4, 2020).   Thank you to Jeff Boone and Sharon Schaefer for taking on the Acting Secretary-Treasurer position.

New Office

Our CUPE 59 office will be up and running out of the new location (106 33rd Street East) as of February 17, 2020.

In Solidarity,

CUPE 59 Executive Committee
