TO ALL CUPE LOCAL 59 MEMBERS
CUPE 59 is needing to appoint three members to the newly established Executive Compensation Ad-Hoc Committee that was passed at our AGM in October, 2018. The details of the Committee, as presented at the AGM are as follows:
Establish an Ad-Hoc Committee to research funding options for Executive Board positions. The Committee shall present recommendation(s) by April 30, 2019 to the Executive Board. The Committee is to consist of three (3) members of the Executive Board, including the Secretary-Treasurer and three (3) non-executive members appointed by the Executive Board.
The Committee’s function shall be to:
Research funding strategies in union locals of similar size
- Determine if positions should be compensated
- Determine which positions should be compensated
- Determine the amount of compensation (e.g. benefits, pension, wage)
- Report on the financial implications of the recommendation
We do not know what the actual time commitment would be. The member shall be granted leave with pay and without loss of seniority for periods of time spent working on the Committee. The member should possess the skills needed to work within committee environments where consensus decisions need to be made.
