CUPE 59 contract has been approved by City Council – Leisure Cards



CUPE 59 contract for January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2018 has been approved

by City Council (Ratification Package – September 20, 2018).  We are working with the

Employer to confirm when the new pay rates will take effect and when back

pay will be paid out.

Just a reminder that shift differential, boot allowance and the pilot

program for medical leave will be effective thirty (30) days following

ratification (September 20, 2018).

There is a pilot program for CUPE 59 employees to increase the discount from

25% to 50% for Individual and Family Leisure passes.  CUPE 59 employees also

receive 25% on Bulk tickets.

This pilot program is now in effect and will expire on September 30, 2019

unless renewed by the parties.

The terms of who is eligible for the discount, are CUPE 59 employees have to

be working with the City for three (3) consecutive months.  Employee status

must be active when applying for the subsidization. These are the original

terms of eligibility when the Leisure card discount was first put in place.

The contract will expire on December 31, 2018 and a bargaining survey will

be sent out to the membership in the near future.
