Hello Fellow Brothers and Sisters,

My name is Kevin Ariss and I am asking for your support in our CUPE 59 election for the position of Area Vice President, Community Services (except Parks), on August 24, 2017.

I have been with the City of Saskatoon for nearly 5 years now and during that time, I have had the pleasure to work in various positions. These include Recreation Technician 8, Open Space Consultant and currently as a Community Consultant with the Recreation and Community Development Division. I have been a Shop Steward for the last 2 years, a member of the OHS committee for 1.5 years and have been an active volunteer in my private life for 15+ years. In that time, I have held roles such as President, Vice-President, Membership Director and Director at large. Through these experiences I understand the commitment this role requires, and want to put my experience to use in our Union.

During the past 5 years, I have had the pleasure of working with a many of our Union members in a number of capacities. In this time, I have learned to firmly believe that what we do does matter, and that each and every person has something to offer. Be it an experience, suggestion or desire to improve their work area, everyone can be involved. If elected as your Area Vice President, I would strive to meet and engage with our union members, take the time to understand the daily challenges, and actively pursue solutions that actually make sense.

I very strongly believe in employee engagement and fostering participation in the work place and that an Area Vice President should set that example. As your Area Vice President, I would dedicate myself to opening up lines of communication within our Union and Corporation, ensure equitable treatment of all our members, and to work with Management to continuously improve our workplace.

On August 24th, I respectfully ask that you support me, Kevin Ariss with your vote.

Thank you,

Kevin Ariss
